Travelguru was founded by Ashwin Damera and Jarad Fisher in 2005 when they were studying at Harvard Business School. In 2006 Travelguru stopped working on Flights Booking and focused only on Hotel Booking in 2006. After TravelGuru shifted to hotels, they progressed a lot. They acquired Desiya.com in 2006 which boosted global goodwill as regards to hotels and travel destinations. TravelGuru has got a speciality in hotel bookings and tour planning.
TravelGuru was acquired by Travelocity global in 2009. In 2012, Travelocity sold Travelguru to Yatra. Acquisition of TravelGuru strengthened the position of Yatra.com because TravelGuru was in contact with 65000 hotels in India and about 4 Lacs hotels worldwide.
